InPage Urdu software has been around for decades to help users write Urdu on their computers. However, one major flaw with InPage Urdu software is that it’s not compatible with other text processors such as MS Word. Moreover, it also fails to produce text that can be used in HTML for internet web pages.

While using InPage Urdu software, users have to export the text into an image format and then publish the image. A key disadvantage of doing this is that the text is not searchable on any search engine.

Fortunately, there are some solutions to this problem, which is essentially what we’ll be talking about in this article. Here are 4 ways in which you can write Urdu on your computer without InPage software.

Solution #1 – Unicode Urdu

Unicode Urdu is one way to write Urdu on your computer without InPage software. Here is a list of simple instructions that you need to follow to enable the Urdu language option on a Windows computer.

Step #1 – Click on the Windows icon at the bottom left of the screen and go to the Settings of your computer.

Step #2 – Click on the option of Time & Language (under which will be written speech, region, date).

Step #3 – On the left side, you will see a list of options including Date & Time, Region, Language, and Speech. Click on the Language option.

Step #4 – Under the Preferred Language heading, click on the “+” sign.

Step #5 – A new window will open up with a list of all the available language choices. Search for Urdu or scroll down and click on Urdu. Then Click Next.

Step #6 – Now you will see a page with all the features of the Urdu language. These include basic typing and supplemental fonts. Here, you will have the option to choose if you want to set Urdu as your display language or just install the language pack. Check the second option (checking the first option is not mandatory)

Step #7 – Click on Install and wait for a couple of minutes for the download to finish.

Step #8 – Once the download is complete, click on ENG written at the bottom right of your screen and select the Urdu Keyboard.

Now you can easily write Urdu on your laptop without any problem.

Tip – You can also use Windows Key + Space to switch your keyboard options.

Solution #2 – Urdu Phonetic Keyboard

Urdu Phonetic Keyboard is a keyboard app that you can use to seamlessly type Urdu on your computer. This tool has recently gained a lot of popularity and the reason for it is that every English alphabet is associated with a similar-sounding Urdu alphabet. For instance, the English letter A is connected with the Urdu alphabet “alif” and so forth.

Step #3 – Go to your Downloads folder and run the Setup. The Urdu Phonetic keyboard will not start installing on your computer.

Step #4 – Once the installation process is complete, click on the ENG prompt (can be found at the bottom right of your screen). Now, select the Urdu Keyboard to start writing Urdu on your laptop.
